This past September 17th happened the opening of the new 15th district police station of Chicago. The event had been awaited for long, because Austin needed a new, more advanced and modern police station.
So, new Commander Alfonza Wysinger was very happy to welcome the many elected officials and the local churches representatives on the occasion. The program began with an invocation led by Most Reverend Bishop Jean Marie, who implored divine blessings from the Good God over the police and the Austin area.
Then, Alderman Isaac Carothers, visibly proud to count the new station in his ward, introduced the main speaker: Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley. The latter announced that this station and the rehabilitation of Madison Avenue were just the beginning of a great project in which Madison Avenue’s grandeur would be restored, from Austin all the way to Downtown.
Chicago Police Superintendent Philip Clyne addressed his wishes of success for the new station, and the ceremony ended with a prayer by Reverend Gregory Livingston. Lastly, the officials were invited to a ‘behind the scene tour’ of the new facility. We pray for the 15th District Police force and for all Austin residents.
